Dear Parents/ Carers - Term 3

What is your favourite traditional tale? Our topic this term is all about traditional tales We will be looking at a range of tales across the term but focusing on one or two in our writing. Feel free to bring in any ‘single’ story books you have at home to share as we’ll be displaying the stories we have read. During the term we will be sequencing the story, retelling and changing the ending as well as reading alternative versions.

English and Maths

Our English lessons will be linked to our topic. We will be learning about adjectives, characters, story maps and instructional writing. In January, your child will begin to bring home spellings. They will have 5 common exception words to learn. Spellings will be given out on a Friday and tested the following Friday. In Maths, we will be learning about place value beyond 10 and further building on our understanding of addition and subtraction within 20.

PE
PE sessions will take place on Monday and Thursday.

PE lessons will be taking place outside as well as in the hall so please ensure your child has their PE kit in school for these days.

Children will also need to bring a water bottle to school as we will take this outside on the days of our PE lessons.

Reading Books

It is very important that your child has the opportunity to read at home every day. If you have any questions or queries about this, we are happy to help. When you have read with your child, just make a little note of it in their reading record book.

Your child should bring their book folder into school every day. They will have their book changed twice a week on either Monday and Thursday or Tuesday and Friday. Details of your child’s days will be written in their reading record.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to send me an email at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or catch me at the door to arrange a meeting.
