This page is dedicated to all the exciting things we will be doing in class this year.
Dear Parents/ Carers - Term 5
What type of pirate would you be? Our topic this term is all about pirates. We start off the term with a pirate workshop…..which I’m sure will be lots of fun! During the term we will be learning about the most famous of pirates – Blackbeard as well as bringing this topic to life with lots of fun and creative activities.
Our English lessons will be linked to our topic. We will be reading pirate themed stories and poems with repetitive language, rhyme and using these in our writing. We will be using a treasure chest and a message in a bottle to spark their imaginations too! This term we will continue to learn our spellings. The children will have 5 common exception words to learn. Spellings will be given out on a Friday and tested the following Friday. Please encourage your children to learn them.
In Maths, we will begin learning about multiplication and division. We will also be learning about fractions.
Other Subjects
Science: Animals including humans Art/DT: Collage and making a moving picture PE: Multi-skills and Invasion games RE: Who is Jewish and what do they believe? History: Who was Blackbeard? PSHE: Who helps us to stay safe? Computing – Programming animations.
PE
PE sessions will take place on Monday and Thursday.
PE lessons will be taking place outside as well as in the hall so please ensure your child has their PE kit in school for these days.
Children will also need to bring a water bottle to school as we will take this outside on the days of our PE lessons.
Reading Books
It is very important that your child has the opportunity to read at home every day. If you have any questions or queries about this, we are happy to help. When you have read with your child, just make a little note of it in their reading record book.
Your child should bring their book folder into school every day. They will have their book changed twice a week on either Monday and Thursday or Tuesday and Friday. Details of your child’s days will be written in their reading record.
