Dear Parents/ Carers - Term 6

Are all animals amazing?

Our topic this term is all about animals. We will be learning about different groups of animals, where they live in the world and what they eat. We will be creating animal art by looking at pattern and colour and creating fact files including looking at the work of Sir David Attenborough.

English and Maths

Our English lessons will be linked to our topic. We will be reading animal themed stories and poems, creating fact files and having a go at writing a biography! This term we will continue to learn our spellings. The children will have 5 phonetical words to learn. Spellings will be given out on a Friday and tested the following Friday. Please encourage your children to learn them. In Maths, we will begin learning about geometry, place value within 100, time and money.

Science: Animals including humans/seasonal changes Art: animal art and the art of Henri Rousseau PE: Athletics and Striking and fielding RE: Who is Jewish and what do they believe? History: Countries/continents linked to animals PSHE: How can we look after each other and the world? Computing – Digital writing

PE
PE sessions will take place on Monday and Thursday.

PE lessons will be taking place outside as well as in the hall so please ensure your child has their PE kit in school for these days.  

Children will also need to bring a water bottle to school as we will take this outside on the days of our PE lessons.    

Reading Books

It is very important that your child has the opportunity to read at home every day. If you have any questions or queries about this, we are happy to help. When you have read with your child, just make a little note of it in their reading record book.

Your child should bring their book folder into school every day. They will have their book changed twice a week on either Monday and Thursday or Tuesday and Friday. Details of your child’s days will be written in their reading record.
