Dear Parents/ Carers - Term 2
What Makes a toy special?
Our topic this term is all about toys. We will be looking at some toy themed stories and linking this to our writing as well as learning through some non-fiction texts. If you are able to lend any old toys to our class for this term, to support the children’s learning in this area, it would be greatly appreciated (they will be well looked after).
English and Maths
Our English lessons will be linked to our topic. We will be learning about adjectives, labels, story maps and instructional writing.
In Maths, we will be learning about adding and subtracting within ten and use this to help to make our own number stories and solve number problems. We will look at number bonds to 10 and part whole models to support this. We will also be learning about 2D and 3D shape and be sorting, describing and using these shapes to make patterns
Alternatively, any photos of toys which either you or a grandparent played with, would be very useful.

PE
PE sessions will take place on Monday and Thursday. PE lessons will be taking place outside as well as in the hall so please ensure your child has their PE kit in school for these days.
It is very easy for school uniform or P.E kit items to go missing or get muddled. Please ensure all items are clearly labelled with your child’s name to help us keep their clothing safe. Thank you
Reading Books
It is very important that your child has the opportunity to read at home every day. If you have any questions or queries about this, we are happy to help. When you have read with your child, just make a little note of it in their reading record book.
Your child should bring their book folder into school every day. They will have their book changed twice a week on either Monday and Thursday or Tuesday and Friday. Details of your child’s days will be written in their reading record.
