Dear Parents/ Carers - Term 4
What will you find if you go down to the woods today?
Our topic this term is all about the woods, nature and our local area. We will be going on a nature trail, exploring our village and hopefully spending more time exploring our nature garden, as well as planting seeds and watching them grow!
English and Maths
Our English lessons will be linked to our topic. We will be reading nature themed stories and poems with repetitive language, rhyme and using these in our writing. We will be delving into the stories of the Gruffalo and stickman and creating our very own characters.
This term we will continue to learn our spellings. The children will continue to have 5 phonetic words to learn. Spellings will be given out on a Friday and tested the following Friday.
In Maths, we will be continuing to learn about addition, subtraction and place value but with larger numbers. We will also be learning about length/ height and mass/volume.

PE
PE sessions will take place on Monday and Thursday. PE lessons will be taking place outside as well as in the hall so please ensure your child has their PE kit in school for these days.
It is very easy for school uniform or P.E kit items to go missing or get muddled. Please ensure all items are clearly labelled with your child’s name to help us keep their clothing safe. Thank you
Reading Books
It is very important that your child has the opportunity to read at home every day. If you have any questions or queries about this, we are happy to help. When you have read with your child, just make a little note of it in their reading record book.
Your child should bring their book folder into school every day. They will have their book changed twice a week on either Monday and Thursday or Tuesday and Friday. Details of your child’s days will be written in their reading record.
