Dear Parents/ Carers - Term 1

Why is it good to be me?

Our topic this term is all about our wonderful selves. We will be looking at some fun stories, some interesting information books and taking a look at our personal history as well as getting to know each other.

English and Maths

Our English lessons will be linked to our topic. We will be learning some excellent themed stories, retelling through drama and using them as inspiration for our writing. In Maths, we will be focusing on place value, recognizing number bonds to ten, and adding and subtracting within ten, We will also be using our number knowledge to solve problems.

Other Subjects

Science: Everyday Materials Art/DT: Portraits including the work of Picasso/Andy Warhol PE: Team building and Multi-Skills RE: What do Christians believe God is like? History: All about me –My family and history Computing – Technology all around

PE

P.E sessions will take place on Tuesday and Thursday. PE lessons will be taking place outside as well as in the hall so please ensure your child has their PE kit in school for these days. Children will also need to bring a named water bottle to school as we will take this outside on the days of our PE lessons.

It is very easy for school uniform or P.E kit items to go missing or get muddled. Please ensure all items are clearly labelled with your child’s name to help us keep their clothing safe. Thank you

Reading Books

It is very important that your child has the opportunity to read at home every day. If you have any questions or queries about this, we are happy to help. When you have read with your child, just make a little note of it in their reading record book.

Your child should bring their book folder into school every day. They will have their book changed twice a week on either Monday and Thursday or Tuesday and Friday. Details of your child’s days will be written in their reading record.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to send me an email at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or catch me at the door to arrange a meeting.
