Resources for week commencing Monday 11th January:

Hello again Year 2!

I hope you’re all well and had a lovely weekend. Did you enjoy completing some of the pirate themed WOW activities?

Below you’ll see the home-learning I’ve prepared for you this week- I hope you’ll enjoy it! Aim to do Maths, English, Reading, Phonics/SPaG tasks every morning, and each afternoon pick one of the Topic/Science/RE or Music tasks to complete.

For Maths this week you’ll see there’s lots of activities on multiplication, and in English we’ll be working towards writing a non-chronological report (factfile) on pirates.

Please do send in photos of any work you complete, I would love to see what you’ve been doing!

Just a few announcements too:

  • Year 2 Zoom - This Monday 11th from 1:30-2:10pm I’ll be holding a ‘drop-in’ online Zoom session for any Year 2s who wish to join! This is a great opportunity to say hello to your friends and to ask me any questions/queries about your homelearning. If you’re interested in joining, your parents can email me at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and I will send you the login details and password for the Zoom call. I’m also hoping to read some stories to you through Facebook Live on the AshCK Facebook Group (date and times TBC).
  • School books – to help you with your home learning, we are happy to give out free school workbooks. You can do Maths work in yellow Maths books, handwriting practise in purple handwriting books and then any English/Topic/Science/RE in a purple writing book. This will help you to keep your work neat and to set it out as you would as if you were at school – don’t forget your date and LI at the top of each piece of work! Parents/guardians are welcome to collect these books from the school office to take home.
  • Reading books – if you would like to borrow any school reading books (max 3 a week), please email me at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to let me know and I shall send a selection to the office for your parents to pick up each Monday. I’ll select the books for your child based on their current Book Band/AR Range. Books must be returned to the office before new books can be issued.

Children on the AR scheme can complete quizzes as usual by going to the Accelerated Reader website which is in the home learning links section.

Take care Magpies, enjoy this week’s activities! Remember I’m always contactable at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. if you need anything.

Miss Chatters x
