Resources for this week beginning Monday 22nd June:
I hope you’ve had a good week. I can’t believe how hit and miss the weather has been for the last two weeks. I hope some of you have been able to get outside when the sun has been shining. I know some of you have been back to school and seen some of your friends and teachers again (with a little social distancing)! Watch this space for new things regarding us getting together at school soon.
For this week’s home learning, we are continuing with our mountains topic which I hope you are enjoying. As you will have noticed, I have also been planning transition to secondary school activities on a Friday. As you approach your final weeks at school, I want you to be ready and be able support you the best way I can. I know it can be a mixture of emotions: excitement, worry, fear, delight and many more. So ensure you do undertake the task and watch the videos, as this will help to prepare you for September. There is also a fabulous Maths resource, which is designed specifically to prepare children for starting Year 7. Some of the benefits are below:
- Varied questions keep learners engaged and motivated
- Help videos are available for when a child gets stuck
- Use on a desktop, laptop, tablet or mobile – whichever suits you
- Powered by Sparx Maths, which improves progress in math
Bets of all The Secondary Ready course is available free-of-charge to learners in the UK until September 2020. Just visit https://www.numerise.com/secondary-ready/ and ask an adult to help you sign up for an account. This is your task for the Friday Maths.
Well done and thank you to all those who are consistently smashing it on Times Table Rock Stars - I have been practising a lot this week and challenging you all again. It really does make a difference spending at least 10 minutes a day on it - you will certainly see your avergae time per question get quicker! Remember to keep going on Prodigy too - I can see that this week, nearly all the children who have logged on are those that are in school. Please do log on and complete the task I have set you this week.
I love seeing how much time and effort you are putting into your own learning, and the photos of your achievements have been fantastic to see. Have a look at some of the photos below from last week's tasks.
Please remember to keep smiling and stay alert during these times. Until then, have a fabulous week Year 6 and stay safe!
